The construction sector is the backbone for the development of any country. Construction as an industry alone accounts to 6-9% of the GDP of developed countries. Right from planning and design to financing and execution of the project, the construction industry handles multiple disciplines that have to work in perfect collaboration. According to Timetric’s Construction Intelligence Center (CIC), the global construction market is expected to reach $10.3 trillion by 2020. The US construction market was increased by 6.4% in 2015.

The progress of the construction industry is dependent on the changing economic conditions of the country. Every time there is recession, the construction industry takes a hit. For this reason, construction companies always try to leverage resources to the core. Secondly, construction companies work at temporary locations and have to quickly setup offices. With constant change of workers, the management has to be on their toes managing the workforce. At the same time, workers and the office staff need to have access to company resources located in the main office. The central office has to handle the invoices, payrolls, financial reports and logistics. While working in remote locations, providing proper IT resources is a challenge for the company. Another challenge is the collaboration between different teams such as contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and the property owner. There needs to be transparency and proper accountability.
